Cindy Crawford Says No School For Her Kids After Cancer-Causing Chemicals Found At Malibu High: Supermodel’s Offer To Pay For Additional Tests Rejected By School District

Cindy Crawford is not taking any chances when it comes to her kids. The supermodel and her husband Rande Gerber have decided to remove their children Presley and Kaia from Malibu High School after the campus tested positive for high levels of PCB.

The school district has also rejected Crawford and Gerber's offer to pay for additional testing.

"I don't feel 100 percent safe," Crawford told special correspondent Maria Shriver on NBC's "Today".

In the interview, Crawford explained the situation in Malibu, which has reportedly affected three schools in the area. According to Fox 11 Los Angeles, 150 residents are asking for additional testing of the schools after PCBs, cancer-causing contaminants, were found in caulk and soil samples.

In addition to cancer, high levels of PCBs can cause immune system and reproductive health problems, and has also been linked to liver damage.

Fox 11 reports that three teachers from the schools in question were diagnosed with thyroid cancer, which they believe may be linked to the PCBs.

"I'm very frustrated and I'm very disappointed at the way this has been handled," said Crawford in her Today interview. "The problem is, for me, that they haven't tested the source."

The Santa Monica-Malibu unified school district, which claims to have conducted a clean up of the contaminated schools, allegedly denied Crawford and Gerber's request for additional testing, on their own dime, because the district believes that the situation has been taken care of.

According to E! News, Malibu High School made a statement claiming that the health and safety of its students is the school's "first priority."

"Using federal EPA standards, our schools are safe for students and employees," said the school.

Crawford remains unconvinced.

"I think that air testing and water testing are a great piece of the puzzle," said Crawford. "Unless they're testing every day, how do I know that every day it's safe for my kid?"

The mother refused to let Presley, 15, and Kaia, 12, attend the first day of classes at Malibu High.

"I look 10 years down the line. What if my kid, God forbid, had a problem?" asked Crawford. "How could I live with myself if I knew that it was a possibility and I still sent them to school there?"
