Zoe Saldana is officially expecting. Although the "Avatar" star has been displaying her baby bump for weeks now, the actress confirmed her pregnancy during an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Although the actress technically completed the charitable challenge, she was forced to defer her ice water dousing to husband Marco Perego.

"I am accepting James Gunn's challenge to take on the ice bucket challenge in support of finding a cure for ALS," said Saldana, adding, "Obviously I can't do it myself."

The actress rubbed her growing stomach as the camera revealed her husband Marco in the hot seat.

"So I nominate my husband to take on the challenge," she explained.

Saldana, who was challenged by her "Guardians of the Galaxy" director, went on to challenge four more people: James Cameron, Aileen Getty, Ron Burkle, and Salma Hayek.

Perego chimed in at the last minute, nominating Francois Pinault.

Speculation about Saldana's pregnancy began to surface when the actress embarked on the press tour for "Galaxy." In an appearance by the film's cast on Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel, fans got a glimpse of what appeared to be a burgeoning baby bump.

This will be the first child for 36-year-old Saldana and her Italian artist husband, who secretly married in June 2013.

Before news of her pregnancy, Saldana allegedly admitted to wanting a big family. 

The Huffington Post reports that the actress revealed her desire for children in an interview on Lifetime's "The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet" in 2012.

"Two or three or four or five-I don't care," said Saldana when asked how many kids she wanted in the future. "They're just so delicious. I love the anxiety and the pressure of a loud room full of yapping kids. I'm like a kid myself so I get along very well with animals and children. I dig them. I get them. A child makes perfect sense to me."
