Taylor Swift New Album 2014 Release Date Confirmed! ‘Shake It Off’ Singer’s Friend Lorde Calls ‘1989’ ‘Joyous’ And ‘So Good’ [VIDEO]

After the surprise release of “Shake It Off” on August 18, Taylor Swift will release her new album of 2014 this fall – on October 27! “1989” will be the “Trouble” singer’s first official pop album, and its already getting rave reviews from Swift’s famous friends including her cooking buddy Lorde.

According to Business Week, “the new album, ‘1989,’ has 13 tracks and a lead single, ‘Shake It Off,’ which Swift premiered with fanfare…The full album will come out in October, just like her previous albums. A “deluxe” version will include bonus tracks.”

And when exactly in October will “1989” be released? October 27 to be exact, according to the Huffington Post.

The ‘22’ singer’s 2014 record takes its album title from the year Swift was born – 1989. The album will also be heavily influenced by the sounds of the 1980s.

As Taylor Swift explained in her Yahoo live stream event, late-‘80s pop music particularly inspired her when writing the album. She described the music as “ahead of its time” and called the end of the decade “a time of limitless potential…bright colors, bold changes, rebellion… The idea of endless possibility was a huge theme in my life in the last year.”

“1989” has been a couple years in the making according to Taylor Swift, allowing her an appropriate amount of time to “change and grow.” She said, “I woke up not wanting, but needing, to make a new style of music.” And that, she has certainly done.

The new 2014 album will also include a theme of Polaroid pictures, as seen in the “1989” cover. Physical copies of the new Taylor Swift CD will include a packet of 13 different Polaroid photos, which appropriately fits the era. Swift explained that she’s been “taking lots and lots of Polaroids in last couple years,” so fans will get a cool glimpse into the pop singer’s life.

And pop is most definitely her genre these days. The deliberate but steady transition from country girl to pop princess is surely completely, with Swift calling “1989” her “first documented pop album.” Fans and critics may argue that “Red” already marked a departure from her country background, but “1989” and first single “Shake It Off” surely confirm that Swift is now a fully-transitioned pop songstress.

Taylor Swift’s friends who have heard the record are already raving about the new direction. According to Perez Hilton, Taylor’s “Royals” friend Lorde was quoted as saying, "I actually heard it [Shake It Off] a while ago. I love it. What I’m gonna say about it [the album] is… that it is quite simply, as someone who’s a fan of pop music, it is joyous. It is such a great record. Honestly, it’s so good.”
