Caroline Wozniacki 'Could Never Hate' Rory McIlroy: Opens About Engagement Break Up Before US Open 2014, Serena Williams Says Danish Star ‘Has Really Good Heart’

Caroline Wozniacki, the newly dubbed Miss Congeniality of tennis revealed that she “could never hate” her ex-fiancé Rory McIlroy. Even after her bolted after the wedding invitations were sent out. I think we all agree with Serena Williams on that Caroline Wozniacki “has a really good heart”. Maybe opening up about her break up will help her with her US Open 2014 performance!

“When it comes out of the blue,” Ms. Wozniacki said in an interview with the New York Times, “that’s like a shock. It’s like someone dies right in front of you.”

Rory McIlroy, who has won two major golf tournaments this summer, may as well be dead to Caroline Wozniacki. He broke off his engagement with the beautiful 23-year-old Danish tennis star after the wedding invitations were sent out.

“I was like, ‘No waaaay,’ ” said Serena Williams to the New York Times. “I was planning the bachelorette party.”

But Caroline’s broken heart certainly didn’t stop her from achieving big this summer. Rory McIlroy, who famously broke down and and cried at a press conference earlier this season, also hasn’t been doing too shabby either.

If anything, he has been flirting with all the Irish women on this planet. A little insensitive, if you ask me.

His representative declined to comment for the interview. Typical.

In her pre-US Open 2014 interview with the Times, Caroline Wozniacki expressed a total commitment to her tennis career.

“I don’t want to have my name stuck with him forever,” she said. “I’m my own person. I have my own career.”

Yes to that, sister.

Caroline also gave out some top-notch relationship advice. Ladies, if you are looking for some girl-to-girl break up talk, look no further because this Danish tennis star got you.

“I don’t believe in holding onto someone who doesn’t want to be with you,” she said. “I definitely want someone who just wants you for who you are. I’m very upfront, I’m very honest and I’m very straightforward and I think some people get intimidated by that. I’m not saying Rory did...

“It’s important in relationships to talk,” she said. “If there’s a problem, you talk about it. That’s normal. Obviously, I didn’t have that chance. At the end of the day, I couldn’t have done anything different. I couldn’t have done anything more. I gave everything I had. And if that’s not enough, that’s fine. I’ll find someone who will.”

Is Caroline Wozniacki’s heart made of gold?

Serena Williams, her BFF to say the least, was equally befuddled when the break up happened.

“I was like: ‘How can you be so nice?’ [Caroline] said: ‘I could never hate him. He’s been a big part of my life and even if I wanted to, I couldn’t hate him.’ ”

US Open 2014 is the second major tournament Caroline Wozniacki will play in since her break up from Rory McIlroy. In fact, US Open is the Grand Slam tournament that she has performed her best in, reaching the women’s final in 2009.

Rory McIlroy was also recently in New York, but instead of checking in on her, he was seeing someone else.

Do you think Caroline Wozniacki has what it takes to clinch the championship title at US Open 2014?
