Sarah Hyland hid her breakup from Matt Prokop so well during Emmy Awards 2014 that all the Hollywood gossip vultures had to do their fact checking again. Either the ‘Modern Family’ star masked her sadness really well (she is an actress after all) or her breakup with her boyfriend Matt Prokop was indeed drama free. “She is having a good time right now,” a source according to E! Online confided, “[Sarah and her boyfriend] thought they would be better off as friends.”

The same source added that the “[breakup] was amicable.”

‘Modern Family’ star’s night at the Emmy Awards was pretty epic, we have to say. She even admitted that herself:

‘Modern Family’ took home the big prize for the fifth year in a row and, even though the actress herself didn’t win anything, she was happy for the show and Julie Bowen, who took home the best comedic supporting actress award.

But a breakup is a breakup. It is terrible no matter how one spins it. The fact that Sarah Hyland and her boyfriend Matt Prokop had been dating for over five years doesn’t exactly ease the pain. The couple also had a dog! What will become of the puppy’s fate??
