Chris Brown Reaches Out To Suge Knight After Club Shooting; Why Was Suge Knight Targeted?

Chris Brown Club Shooting Update: Suge Knight was released from the hospital after getting shot six times on Aug. 24 when he was attending a pre-MTV VMAs party that Chris Brown threw at 1OAK in West Hollywood.

According to HollywoodLife.com, Chris Brown, 25, reached out to the 49-year-old Death Row Records founder to offer his support.

A source told HollywoodLife "Out of respect, [Chris reached out to Suge] and told him that if there was anything he needed, to ask him. Chris genuinely wanted to know how he was doing and if he needed anything and if he's good. He would have done that for anyone in that situation."

"He's all about peace and love," the source continued, "and that night just happened to have some people in there who didn't have the same energy and led to what happened.  But all is good and this is the last time he's mentioning anything about it."

Rumors are going around that Suge Knight might have been shot over a tell-all book Knight is selling. Knight has refused to talk to police about the shooting. Rumors say he was shopping a movie and filmed a pilot for a reality show that was never broadcast.

According to Page Six an insider said "Suge doing a tell-all book would be a huge best seller, and probably one of the few things he could do,' a source told us."

Another source was quoted as saying that Suge Knight was shot over because he owed R&B singer Akon's brother Abou "Bu" Thiam $250,000.  Bu is Chris Brown's manager.

Suge Knight was one of three victims a Chris Brown's pre-VMA party at at West Hollywood club 1OAK in Los Angeles early Sunday.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said in a statement that All the victims are expected to recover. The investigation is ongoing. The victims' names have not been released. The police have not given out any information on the shooter.

One of the guests at the party was Justin Bieber. Photos from the party show Bieber on a crowded dance floor in sunglasses and a fedora.

Chris Brown a statement about the shooting: "Chris hosted an event in Los Angeles last night to celebrate the upcoming release of his album X, during which an incident occurred. This incident did not involve Chris; he was merely the host of the event. He has and will continue to cooperate with the investigation."

The family of Suge Knight issued a statement through Revolt TV: "The family of Suge Knight ask that you keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media," the statement read. "Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he's human. He's done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that."

In the aftermath of the shooting, the NYPD reportedly formed a "Hip-Hop Squad" to keep an eye on rappers and stars like Drake, Chris Brown, French Montana, Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Young Jeezy, Fat Joe, Jim Jones and Lil Wayne.

A source told the New York Post's Page Six "All New York club owners are required to inform the Hip-Hop Police in advance if anyone on the watch list is coming in. They want to be there to monitor the crowd and in case any trouble starts. "They don't want any situations like the Suge Knight shooting. If something does go down, they want to already be on the scene."
