Asus Smartwatch Release Date, Specs News: ZenWatch Cheapest In The Market? Design Teaser Reveals Not Much

Despite all the hype surrounding the gadget, the Asus smartwatch release date and specs won't be known until September 3 when the company intends on launching the ZenWatch. The design teaser released by the tech firm revealed very little about the supposed cheapest of its kind in the market.

As reported by Tech Shout, Jerry Shen, CEO of Asus, did not really touch on the specs as well as the Asus smartwatch release date but he did tease about the retail price of ZenWatch, which is going to be less than $200.

"Although the exact asking amount is still unknown, comparing that value to the cost of the LG G Watch ($230), the Samsung Gear Live ($230) and the Moto 360 ($250) gives us a fair idea about how cheap it is," the website said.

CNET weighed in on the design sketch released by the tech company where the gadget shows a slightly curved watch with straps made of genuine leather.

"The front side of the face could be made of polished stainless steel, while the underside presents a sandblasted finish," it said. "The screen itself is more squared than rounded and may somewhat resemble that of the LG G Watch or Samsung Gear Live."

The website even reported that the Asus smartwatch, ZenWatch, could fetch around $100-150.

Early rumors surrounding the device claimed that it will come with gesture and voice commands, but the specs and the Asus smartwatch release date will still remain a speculation for now, up until the product will be seen in store shelves.

Meanwhile, Tech Crunch said that based on the design sketches, the Asus ZenWatch looks more attractive than the G Watch by LG, which it described as a chunk of square.

In its review when the LG rolled out the smart watch, the website wrote: "The G Watch is a cool gadget, but it fails to really impress with a lackluster design and some software quirks which detract from the overall experience."
