Serena Williams will face off against tennis rival Flavia Pennetta on Wednesday in a quarterfinals match of the US Open 2014 tournament, pitting two of the tournament's strongest players against each other.

Serena Williams, who is expected to be the favorite, defeated Kaia Kanepi of Estonia 6-3, 6-3 in her last match.

Flavia Pennetta, the rumored underdog, beat Casey Dellacqua with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in her previous game.

"What is satisfying is that she is in the quarters, she didn't lose a set, and she's focused," Serena Williams' coach Patrick Mouratoglou said, according to USA Today Sports.
