Victoria Azarenka will face off against tennis rival Ekaterina Makarova on Wednesday in a quarterfinals match of the US Open 2014 tournament, pitting two of the tournament's strongest players against each other.

Victoria Azarenka who is expected to be the favorite, defeated Aleksandra Krunic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in her last match.

Ekaterina Makarova, the rumored underdog, beat Eugenie Bouchard with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory in her previous game.

"I think I prefer to stay in the shade," Makarova said after the match, according to ESPN.

"But I'm kind of, yeah, want to stay in my world maybe. I don't want to be so, I don't know. It's just my personal thing."
