FIBA: Pace, poise and penetration for Australia

Joe Ingles was caught up by the reporters of FIBA.com after laying a great performance over Lithuania. The Australia forward possessed 18 points, four assists, and three steals that covered up an all-around impressive play giving the 82-75 win.

As he was complimented to have a huge win for Australia, Ingles delightfully replied,"Yeah it was. We got them in Beijing too, but it's been a long time really. They're a great team and I think the best thing about tonight was we stuck with our game plan and did what we wanted to do. At the end of the day that's what it came down to."

He added: "We knew they were going to make a run in the second half at some point, and for the guys to stick together and play our style and hold it together (was great). They're a great team, they were going to do something at some point, and I think in the past that's where we've lost games, we can't hold that lead and control the run, and I think we did a great job of that tonight."

It was all about "pace, poise and penetration" for their team that gets better and better as they savor the FIBA journey. Ingles thought of it as one of Australia's better 40-minute games with Coach Andrej.

"Definitely, there's never going to be a perfect game. We got a bit stagnant in the third quarter, they made a run, we didn't want to make mistakes and that hurt us a little bit, a few turnovers. We'll go back and look at how we can get better at, but overall very happy," - When FIBA.com asked about the sudden lost of pace and Australian action in the third quarter.

And when FIBA team finally mention about Mexico, "I know they've got good beer, I like Corona (laughs)! But they're obviously a good team, they're here for a reason, they've got a couple of really good players who are playing well this tournament so we'll go back and watch the video and do some recovery for the early game tomorrow."
