Megafight Manny Pacquiao Vs Floyd Mayweather Happening Before ‘Money’s’ Retirement? ‘Filipino Champ’ Positive Bout Will Push Through

The megafight between Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather could happen before Money's retirement, as the "Filipino champ" remains optimistic that it will push through.

Top Rank chief Bob Arum said that the megafight between Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather will finally push through next year, not just once but two times. He said that the second fight would be a "double-your-money" rematch, which would be more than enough to lure both fighters to slug it out one more time, MailOnline said.

"Since a first fight in May is projected to be the richest in ring history at $300 million, the prospect of raising the ante to more than half a billion dollars with a second clash in September next year will surely amount to an offer neither man can refuse," the British tabloid said.

Accordingly, one of the main hurdles to get the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight is the two TV networks, HBO and Showtime, that are not willing to share the booty. Lately, however, network executives have changed their tune.

Another positive sign that the fight will happen is the departure of Richard Schaefer-a long-time nemesis of Bob Arum-as CEO of Golden Boy Promotions.

To make sure that the first fight won't have both top pound-for-pound boxers going through the motion, Bob Arum announced that the winner will have a bigger purse in the second fight, which he said "provides an extra incentive."

At the Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri presser in in Macao, China on Wednesday, the Filipino champ said the fight against Floyd Mayweather is what fans have been demanding all this time.

"I want to give the people what they want, the fight with Mayweather, but what can I do if he doesn't want to fight?" he said, per LA Times.

"My concern is for the fans. For me, as a boxer, it's a shame that he claims he's pound-for-pound champion, that he's undefeated."
