Minnesota Twins Shortstop Nick Gordon Out for the Season;

Minnesota Twins shortstop prospect Nick Gordon broke his finger. Nick Gordon will probably be out of most of the Florida Instructional League.

Gordon was the fifth-overall pick in June's amateur draft. He broke his finger while playing for the Elizabethton Twins.

Minnesota Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Gordon he broke his left index finger after it got jammed on a pitch during Elizabethton's rookie league playoff game against Johnson City. Gordon played 49 games as shortstop and came to the plate seven times as designated hitter.

Elizabethon is currently in the playoffs after going 38-30 in their regular season schedule. Gordon played in 52 games with Elizabethton, pulling in .294/.333/.366  averages. Gordon also contributed 28 RBI with six doubles, four triples, a home run and 11 stolen bases.

With the injury coming at the beginning of the month of September, Gordon probably won't be able to play his first season as a pro.

Gordon played 49 of the games at shortstop and came to the plate seven times as designated hitter.

Nick Gordon is the son of Tom "Flash" Gordon and brother of Dodgers All-Star shortstop, Dee Gordon.
