Windows 9 Release Date: New Rumored Feature Will Make PC Platform One Step Closer To Windows Phone

Let's all face it, in spite all of the upgrades, improvements and enhancements that Microsoft has made to its current PC platform, it still falls below the experience that Win 7 has brought us. And as a result, most of us are waiting for the Windows 9 release date.

According to recent reports, the platform will get a preview this month, which means we will finally see what the new version of the world's most popular operating system will look like.

But in a new report by BGR, it appears that the Windows 9 version will be more than just the return of the Start menu. Neowin reports that one of the rumored changes would be the inclusion of a notification center.

Yes, you heard it right. The upcoming Windows 9 will allegedly get a notification area where all the notifs go, whether they may be about emails, probably updates on social media, and even notifications from applications.

However, the rumored notification center will not function like the Action Center in Windows Phoine 8.1 where the area will take up most, if not the entire screen. Instead, there will be a dedicated rectangular or square-ish portion at the lower right of the screen where notifications will go.

In the report, in order to view the notifications, you may have to scroll that particular area on the PC's display or screen.

If this rumor is true, then this could be another step to Microsoft's dream in unifying its different operating systems which include the Windows Phone and Windows for PCs. Another step that could make that dream a reality is the integration of virtual assistant Cortana into Windows 9.

We'll see whether these rumors are spot on in the coming days, weeks and months. The Windows 9 preview will reportedly be held on September 30.
