Team USA FIBA World Cup 2014: Curry Drops 20 In Mexico Rout, Team USA Headed For Quarters In FIBA

Team USA remains unbeaten in this year's FIBA World Cup 2014, thanks to the hot shooting of Warriors guard Stephen Curry to keep away a proud Mexican team, 86-63 in their elimination match earlier today.

The 26-year-old guard drained 6 out of his 9 three point field goal attempts, while he finished with 7 of 10 shooting overall for the game. His Golden State partner, Klay Thompson was also hot with his own 15 points, also draining a couple of shots from deep.

Interestingly, Anthony Davis and Kenneth Faried, the two dominating big men of Team USA during previous games were quiet in this game with Mexico, only combining for 12 points.

However, they didn't need to step up as Team USA's sharpshooters have found their mark and were making defenses pay for leaving them open throughout the game. James Harden chipped in 12 points and DeMarcus Cousins was the only big men in double figures with 11.

In a report by ESPN, head coach Mike Krzyzewski showed how his team slowly shifted from an inside threat to an outside threat in this game.

"For a few games I think our perimeter guys were just really trying to get Anthony off because we had not looked for him and the pendulum went too far, where we're looking at that too much."

"And today it's swinging more into the middle, and if we get that balance then we'll be a very good -- we think we are a good offensive team -- but we can be an outstanding offensive team if we get that balance."

Meanwhile, Gustavo Ayon, who finished with 25 points, was the only sole spark for the Mexicans, who played Team USA for the first time since the Olympic qualifying tournament in 2007.

Team USA will be needing the same sharpshooting in its upcoming games, where it will face the Dominican Republic at the quarter final round.
