Teresa Giudice Fraud Charges: RHONJ Star Pleads Guilty, Prepares To Sell House And Part With Kids

Real Housewives Of New Jersey fans who have been following the news cast member regarding Teresa Giudice know that she and husband Joe plead guilty to mortgage and bankruptcy fraud back in March, but on Sunday, viewers got a chance to see what went on behind the scenes in the latest episode of the series. The housewife remarked, “I’m feeling numb,” after appearing in court to accept responsibility. The couple is now awaiting sentencing, which could include jail time that would separate them from their  four children. TMZ reports that the couple just put their house up for sale, hoping to rake in some cash before they are sent off.

One of the most emotional moments in Sunday night’s episode was an exchange between Giudice and her oldest daughter, Gia. As the reality star tried to protect her daughter from the reality of the situation, the 14-year-old protested, “I obviously know what’s going on…I’m old enough to comprehend.” The two broke down in tears as Guidice told her daughter, “I wish I could take your pain.”

The question at the top of both Giudice’s mind is how their sentencing will impact their children. Teresa faces 21 to 27 months in prison, while Joe faces up to 46. TMZ reported a few months ago that the couple’s lawyer, Miles Feinstein is asking that the judge allow them to serve time separately, so that one parent will be with the children at all times. Their sentencing was originally scheduled for September 23, but Radar reports that it has now  been postponed until October 2. An insider says that Feinstein is hoping to gather enough  information to score them a chance to avoid jail time altogether, and just receive probation instead.

Meanwhile, the Giudice’s just put their house on the market for $3.99 million. They bought the house for just $530,000 in 2002, but spent years on renovations which included doubling its size. The couple had planned on keeping the house to grow old in, but it seems they are now just trying to build up a good nest egg, incase of the worst outcome.
