MacBook Air Retina Display Release Date: Apple's Newest Laptop May Be Thinnest Ever, Find Out Why

A new announcement from Intel could be the hint that the MacBook Air Retina display release date will be before the holiday season this year.

According to a report by BGR, the chip maker has announced yet again its new Intel Core M, which it has also announced in several tech events in the past.

However, this time, it revealed other details about the new chipset, which could be the one running inside the new MacBook Air with Retina display.

In the report, Intel Core M will not have any fans in it, which means it would become much thinner than other processors in the past. But in spite becoming thinner, Intel says that devices running on this version of Intel chip will be 50 percent faster in terms of computing performance, and 40 percent better in graphics intensive tasks.

These laptops would also become more power-efficient, adding up to 1.5 hours of battery life to the already impressive 9-12 hours of power brought by last year's Intel Haswell.

In the report, OEMs will be able to manufacturer ultra-portable laptops which are only 9mm thin, even thinner than the ones seen in the market today.

The MacBook Air is the first of its kind in the ultraportable laptop category, and slowly more OEMs are joining Apple as more consumers begin to value portability due to the importance of being connected to the Internet wherever they go.

While Intel did not specifically mention the new MacBooks as the new devices which will feature the new chipset, we can still count that the Cupertino manufacturer is among the first to get it, as a pioneering company in the industry.
