Oscar Pistorius Murder Case Update: Paralympian’s Stressed With Upcoming Verdict On Killing Of Girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp? Acquittal May Still Earn Athlete Jailtime

Oscar Pistorius murder case update revolves around the paralympian supposedly suffering from stress while waiting for the verdict on his involvement in the killing of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Even if he is acquitted, however, he still could go to jail.

In a report from Sydney Morning Herald, the paralympian was allegedly approached by a local newspaper at his uncle's Pretoria home where he is currently staying and was asked for any Oscar Pistorius murder case update.

That's when Oscar Pistorius "exploded with anger."

"How can you ask me that? Do you really have the audacity to ask me how I am doing at this point in my life? What I am going through and feeling ... I really cannot deal with this right now," he reportedly said.

In other Oscar Pistorius murder case update, Judge Thokozile Masipa is due to hand down her ruling for the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Thursday, and there are three possible outcomes: first he could be found guilty of premeditated murder, or to a lesser charge of murder, and finally to homicide.

"Even if Pistorius is acquitted for murder, he could still face a conviction of culpable homicide, meaning he 'negligently' killed Steenkamp," The Week magazine noted, quoting Eric Macramalla, a legal analyst at TSN.

When a person is acquitted of homicide in South Africa, the judge is given leeway on the sentencing which could vary from fines to imprisonment of up to 15 years.

The Week also noted that apart from the Oscar Pistorius murder case trial, the paralympian was also previously charged with two counts of discharging a firearm in public, which carries a sentence of 5 years imprisonment for each count. Allegedly, he fired his gun at a restaurant on January 11, 2013 and before that, through his car's sunroof on November 30, 2012.

The beleaguered athlete has admitted to owning the firearm and for having no license.
