Australian Actress Nicole Kidman Mourns Death of Father Who Died From An Apparent Accident In Singapore

Nicole Kidman's father, Dr. Anthony Kidman died from an apparent accident in Singapore, Friday.

Singapore's Strait Times reported that Dr. Kidman was in Singapore to visit his daughter, Antonia and her family.

The cause of death is still under probe, according to the news article, adding that the Singapore police received reports that an 80-year old man was confirmed dead in one of the hospitals in the morning of Friday.

Dr. Kidman is the director of the Heath Psychology Unit of the University of Technology in Sydney.

 The article quoted a statement from Professor Attila Brungs; vice-chancellor of the University of Technology as expressing sadness over Dr. Kidman's death.

"It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr Tony Kidman's sudden passing. During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Tony has contributed greatly - as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner. All at UTS will miss Tony. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

A Daily Mail report stated that Dr. Kidman fell from a hotel room "after eating breakfast."

The Daily Mail further reported that Australian actress Nicole and her family are shocked over the news of her father's death.

Wendy Day, Nicole's publicist and friend stated, "family is in shock and is grieving." I think that some time and privacy to deal with this shock and tragedy," Ms Day added.

Dr. Kidman was a great influence on Nicole; the actress described his Dad as a "great man."

One of Nicole's famous quotes about staying positive referred to her Dad.

Kidman's quote goes like this, "I'm not sure what the future holds but I do know that I'm going to be positive and not wake up feeling desperate. As my dad said 'Nic, it is what it is, it's not what it should have been, not what it could have been, it is what it is.'"
