Sam Worthington And Wife Sued By Paparazzo. 'Avatar' Star Star And Lara Bingle Could Have To Pay $10 Million For Alleged Assault

Sam Worthington’s run-in with a paparazzo back in February could wind up costing big time. The photographer, Sheng Li,  is suing the actor and his wife, Lara Bingle for $10 million, claiming he sustained injuries during the altercation. In addition, the suit alleges the couple committed slander and libel against the pap in statements they made to the NYPD.

The incident began outside an NYC bar, when the photographer  followed the two with a video camera. The footage has been released to the public, and it shows that the altercation appears to have started with Bingle shoving the camera and demanding, “stop following me.”  Li then shouts “don’t touch me,” repeatedly but continues to follow the couple until Worthington intervenes. The action after this point takes place outside the shot, but the audio picks up what sounds like someone being hit repeatedly, as both men shout and curse. At one point Worthington exclaims, "You kicked my wife!"

Li now claims that he sustained injuries including a torn shoulder, facial contusion and wounds to his thumb and wrists. Following the incident, police arrested both the photographer and the actor. Both were charged with assault, and Li received additional charges of harassment and endangerment. He now claims that because the  couple gave falsified statements, he received a harsher penalty than he should have. Watch the video below:
