Vanessa Hudgens reminded everyone that she got famous for ‘High School Musical’ for a reason! With ‘Gigi’ Broadway in the works, Vanessa Hudgens gave an amazing rendition of Beyonce’s ‘I Was Here’ at Voices on Point gala last night. Was ‘Kitchen Sink’ actress channeling her boyfriend Austin Butler’s mother Lori during her Beyonce-worthy performance?

When Vanessa Hudgens stepped on the red carpet at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza for Voices on Point gala, she looked great, but nobody knew that she would be belting like Beyonce.

Although her boyfriend Austin Butler couldn’t make it, ‘Kitchen Sink’ star still managed to look fabulous in her white dress and slicked back hair.

Vanessa Hudgens took the stage with a pianist and cellist and giving a sneak peak into what her performance in ‘Gigi’ Broadway might look like.

Dayum! ‘Kitchen Sink’ still has the vocal chords that made her famous! If ‘Gigi’ Broadway fails to recoup, it definitely won’t be because of Vanessa Hudgens! If she can pull off Beyonce’s heart-wrenching ‘I Was Here’ with this force, she can sing any jazzy Broadway song!

Maybe she was channeling her boyfriend Austin Butler Lori’s spirit when she sang ‘I Was Here’. Lori passed away last week and Vanessa has been spending a lot of time with her Austin Butler.

‘Gigi’ will take the stage in D.C. before heading to Broadway. Directed by Eric Schaeffer, it will debut at the Kennedy Center. According to Wikipedia, the story of ‘Gigi’ goes like this:

“The story concerns Gigi, a free-spirited teenaged girl living in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. She is being groomed as a courtesan in her family's tradition. Before she is deemed ready for her social debut, she encounters the bon vivant bachelor Gaston Lachaille, whom she captivates as she is transformed into a charmingly poised young lady.”

Vanessa Hudgens has done Beyonce proud. We’re sure she’ll do well on Broadway too!
