Dirk Nowitzki Eurobasket 2015: Dallas Mavericks Allows 'The Dunking Deutschman' To Play For Germany Next Year; Mavs Player Wants To Help The German Team Qualify For 2016 Olympics

Dirk Nowitzki at Eurobasket 2015 has been given the go signal by Mark Cuban.

In a report by CBS Sports, Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks made it very clear that he did not want to risk injuring his players while playing in such tournaments during the NBA offseason. He opposed the idea of sending NBA players to international competitions, considering how the league does not profit or have any stake in the events. He opposed how the International Olympic Committee was involved in contests like the Summer Olympics. Basically, Cuban takes on the capitalistic point of view that the NBA should at least partner to run international meets.

However, Cuban had a recent change of heart according to SportBild, a German newspaper. He finally allowed Dirk Nowitzki Eurobasket 2015. Nowitzki replied "Yes" when he was asked whether he was permitted to play for his national team.

NBC Sports writes that Cuban and Nowitzki shared a relationship which most likely prompted them to discuss the possibility and finally came to an agreement. Cuban may not be fond of the idea of sending Dirk to international games but understands how passionate the center is about supporting his country. Dirk also understands Cuban's concerns and will take the opportunity in stride.

Nowitzki, who was born in Wurzburg, has the ultimate goal of helping the German team qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the 2013 European Championships, Germany without Nowitzki finished 17th, without even getting out of the group games.

Dirk last played for his national team in 2011 together with Chris Kaman and helped the team qualify for the 2012 Olympics. He also joined the 2007 European Championships and helped Germany qualify for the 2008 Olympics.

Dirk Nowitzki Eurobasket 2015 will be 37 years old, where Germany will play the group games in Berlin. The final matches will be played in Lille, France.
