It's been a busy week for Ben McKenzie. The "Gotham" star attended the New York City premiere of his new show on FOX just a few days after sustaining a head injury on set.

But the actor is taking things in stride. And he also made the time to discuss old pal Rachel Bilson's impending baby.

"I hit a concrete pillar with my head," McKenzie told Us Weekly on the red carpet of the "Gotham" premiere in NYC.

On Sept. 13, hours after his 36th birthday, the actor tweeted a photo of the scary head gash. McKenzie had to stop filming to go to the hospital and have the bleeding injury stitched up by doctors. 

"Happy Birthday to me. Fight sequence gone awry. Don't ram your head into concrete pillars, kids. #gotham," McKenzie captioned the photo.

The actor also posted a closer picture of the wound, writing, "Holy concrete wall, Batman! #gotham."

However, the actor was soon on the mend and ready to resume filming.

"Doc Sherman at New York-Presbyterian, you are a career saver. Thanks for stitching me up nice. Back to work Monday. #gotham," he wrote on Instagram, alongside the picture of him giving his doctor a thumbs up.

During the past few weeks of press for the launch of "Gotham," McKenzie was asked about his former "OC" co-star Rachel Bilson, who is currently pregnant with her first child.

"I think it's awesome. Rachel's an incredible girl. I'm really happy for her," McKenzie told E! News.

When asked if the actor had any words of wisdom to impart on his old friend before her baby is born, McKenzie responded, "If she wants my fatherly advice, having never been a father before, you know, I'm free to give it but I don't think it'd be very good."

"I'll babysit for Rachel and Hayden. I'm sure they would love that," he added with a laugh.

Sounds like Bilson's baby may not get too much one-on-one time with Ryan Atwood.

Let's just hope McKenzie avoids any more injuries so there's at least a chance at a reunion of "The OC" one day. Fingers crossed.
