Serena Williams Thinks Li Na’s Body ‘Betrayed’ Her: World Number 1 Rejects Coach Patrick Mouratoglou Dating Rumors, Guns For 19 Grand Slam Titles

Serena Williams, the world number 1, thinks that Li Na ran her body into the ground. She claims that playing less tennis helped her gain back her world number 1 status. This year’s US Open was her 18th Grand Slam title and now the 32-year-old is gunning for a 19th title.

Oh, and by the way, Serena would like to say once and for all that she is not dating her Patrick Mouratoglou.

Serena Williams publicly congratulated Li Na’s retirement on Twitter. She later admitted in an interview with Sydney Morning Herald that she thinks that Li Na’s body “betrayed” her.

"I think at one point or another all of our bodies at some point betray us," Williams said, before paying tribute to Li.

"For the most part, I think Li Na is great. I think I summed it up: She's a star that is in the sky that always shines. It's always going to be there."

When Serena Williams won her 18th Grand Slam title, she took a moment to deny all dating rumors. There has been rumors that she was dating her coach Patrick Mouratoglou. When she won her 18th Grand Slam title, she wrote on her Twitter, “To answer all your questions I'm single and I have been single so the speculations can stop.”

In the wake of Li Na’s retirement due to her chronic knee injury, Serena Williams admitted that playing less tennis helped her stay on the top.

"As for playing less, I think throughout my career, I think it's definitely been able to help me have a longer career," Williams said on Sydney Morning Herald.

"I think next year something I definitely want to continue to do is really focus on breaking records in the slams and doing the best I can in those events and the ones leading up to those."

The 32-year-old tennis player certainly wants to have a long, invigorating career! And she is not ready to quit just yet.

"I'm thinking about number 19."
