The Evil Within Release Date, Gameplay, Trailer, Review, Bethesda Announces PC Requirements, Requires 40GB Download For Xbox One And PS4, Goes Gold Ahead Of Release [VIDEO}

"The Evil Within" is the latest game from famed Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has an Octobwe 14 release date, and is being hailed as a return to the horror survival game.

Bethesda Softworks has revealed the system requirements for "The Evil Within" It's not providing any minimum requirements to run the game. Instead, they have simply said, If your rig doesn't meet the recommended spec, proceed with caution.

The specs are

  • 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
  • i7 with four plus cores
  • 4 GBs RAM
  • 50 GB of hard drive space*
  • GeForce GTX 670 or equivalent with 4GBs of VRAM
  • High Speed Internet Connection
  • Steam account and activation

For Xbox One and Playstation 4 it will require a 40GB installation package.

"We do not have a list of minimum requirements for the game," Bethesda wrote on in a blog post. "If you're trying to play with a rig with settings below these requirements (you should plan to have 4 GBs of VRAM regardless), we cannot guarantee optimal performance."

"The Evil Within" has gone gole ahead of its October launch. "Going gold" means all work on the game has been completed ahead of schedule.

The game's website has described the plot saying, "While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead.

Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what's behind this evil force."

Trusted Reviews, however, had some reservations about the final product, they write, "In terms of scare factor, it's difficult to really gauge. Throughout, an eerie clinking soundtrack and screeches of manic laughter serve as the audio backdrop. There's genuine moments where there's a real sense of isolation and a wariness to open a door in the fear that something is going to jump out you.

It definitely had its moments, such as walking into the bloodied medical theatre and being confronted by the girl from the Ring with mutating limbs disappearing and re-appearing right in front of you as you run away. This would have been more tense had it been in first person, though. Then there's the hooded character Ruvik appearing out of nowhere following you like bad rash to take energy off you. At one point a screaming ghost running out of an abandoned house did give us a little jump, but these moments were few and far between.

The Evil Within's ambitions are clear; to bring back pure surival horror and in doing that it's bringing some of the shonky game mechanics with it as well. If you loved the original Resident Evil games, then this is going to appeal, although those hoping for Outlast-style fear might be left disappointed.

Visually, it didn't blow us away either and attempts to freshen up and evolve the genre feel half-baked. With only a couple of months away from launch, it's clearly a game that still needs some polishing."

"The Evil Within" was developed by Mikami and his team at Tango Gameworks, a Bethesda subsidiary based in Japan. The game was originally scheduled to launch in August before Bethesda delayed the game to late October--and then moved it up slightly to its new release date.

Again, "The Evil Within" release date is October 14, check back for more inforamation as we get closer to the release date.
