Mind-Blowing Bungle Bungle Mountain Range In Western Australia
The Bungle Bungle Range in Purnululu National Park, Western Australia is one of the most fascinating geological landmarks around the world. Geologists still don't completely understand how the Bungle Bungles formed, but they do know these strange formations have a cyanobacterial crust that's "encased in a skin of silica and algae". The range features distinctive beehive-shaped sandstone towers and conglomerates alternately striped in orange and black bands. These beehive-y peaks eroded over 20 million years and rise almost 2,000 feet above sea level.
