Windows 9 Release Date: Sorry Folks No '9' As Microsoft Heads Straight To Windows 10, Will Run On All Devices

Since the release of Windows 8.1 and the announcement of an impending Windows 9 release date, a lot of PC users have been waiting and holding off their purchases just to get the latest hardware running on the latest version of Windows.

Unfortunately, Windows 9 will not arrive anymore.

That's because the Redmond giant decided to skip one number and moved on to Windows 10.

So what's new about this new version? Is it worth the wait? Will it finally compensate for the trials, challenges and hardships brought by Windows 8 and all of its updates?

Here are some of the notable features of the upcoming Windows 10:

The Return of the Start Menu

After bringing back the Start button from last year's update, Microsoft promises to bring back the entire Start menu for Windows 10. However, the feature would not only enable users to run the classic style Windows interface, but also use the Live Tiles as well.

Support to Run Touch-Based and 'Universal' Apps Simultaneously

In Windows 10, you don't have to worry if you have favorite apps and programs from both Windows 7 and 8. You'll be able to run them seamlessly in this new version of Windows. You can interact with a particular touch-based program and manage your 'universal' program using the mouse as well.

Better Multi-tasking

Do you always put your device to the limit by running different apps simultaneously? In Windows 10, you can do that and a lot more. It allows the user to manage running applications and programs by merely swiping from the left. They can even 'Snap' or simply group certain apps and programs which you would like to run on their own desktop screens.

One Platform to Support All Devices

The aim of Microsoft is to launch just one software to run on a PC, tablet and even a smartphone. For instance, a tablet with a connected keyboard can run full Windows 10 in desktop mode. Once the keyboard is detached, the software would prompt the user to use the touch-based Windows 10, and then transforms the current apps on hand into touch-based apps. We still cannot comprehend fully how this would work, but it certainly sounds good.
