Redd Kross Mentions 2NE1 and Why They are the New Ronettes

Redd Kross is a legendary punk band group from L.A. The founding members, who are also brothers, are Jeff and Steve McDonald.

During an interview with the Village Voice, they were asked who their favorite girl groups were at the moment. They chose the K-Pop group 2NE1. They expressed that most girl groups that are out in the K-Pop scene were not very good and that 2NE1 had something a bit different about them. They also seemed to know the jist of how K-Pop idols become stars. They commented, "So what they do with K-Pop is they have these entertainment production houses. So you're signed when you're a teenager, and then you're a trainee for awhile-you get into physical shape, you dance 20 hours a day, you learn how to deal with the press, and you record and record until you're ready to make your debut."

The group also mentioned that they watched 2NE1's reality show and talked about how interesting it was to see the group in a different light. They also commented on how most K-Pop songs that include english in the chorus are always broken english. They praised YG Entertainment and producer Teddy on their perfect english phrases in their songs. They also commented, "2NE1 are the new Ronettes as far as I'm concerned."

The Ronettes were an American girl group from the 1960's. They were one of the most popular groups of that time period and had more than 8 songs ranked on the Billboard Hot 100.
