Fabio Fognini Fined $2K After Throwing Temper Tantrum: Italian Tennis Player Flipped Off Shanghai Crowd After Losing To Wang Chuhan At The Shanghai Masters [PHOTO]

Italian tennis player Fabio Fognini wasn't too happy after losing straight sets to unknown Chinese player Wang Chuhan this past Tuesday. Word is Fognini has been fined $2,000 for flashing an obscene gesture at the crowd during his departure at the Shanghai Masters.

According to ESPN, Fognini - who is ranked No. 17 - showed his middle finger the crowd as he left the stadium following his 7-6, 6-4 loss to 533rd ranked player Wang in the first round. He also shoved Wang with his elbow after they shook hands at the net.

Skysports reports that Fognini's loss was a fifth in a row, and he has only won one match since reaching the Cincinnati quarterfinals two months ago.

This isn't the first time Fognini has displayed bad behavior. In the past, he has received fines totaling $27,500 at Wimbledon for unsportsmanlike conduct and showing a visible obscenity during his first-round match. According to the Independent, Fognini told respected tournament official Wayne McEwan that he would "smash my racket in your head" during his first-round match.

After the match, Wang told reporters he had a better picture of Fognini's playing after practicing with him in Beijing last week. He stated, "When I was practicing with him before, I found he's more fast-paced than me... This match has really, most importantly, helped me get closer to this kind of feeling of competing with top-100 players. Hopefully, next time when I meet a top-100 player, I won't feel so nervous or feel that it's impossible to win," conveying his determination to rise higher in the sport.

Wang has since lost the second round in Shanghai to Tunisian qualifier Malek Jaziri (ranked 87th) in a 6-0, 6-4 game on Wednesday.
