Sofia Vergara has a sweet tooth. The trophy wife on "Modern Family" says she wouldn't be so much of a trophy if she indulged in sweets as much as she wants. Sofia says she wants to change her "mentality about food" and to do that Vergara says she has to change her mind.

In the November issue of Shape magazine, the Colombian bombshell revealed that she has considered hypnosis to find a cure.

Vergara moved to L.A. in 2005. "If you live here, you can't always order the high-fat dishes like pasta with truffles. You have a little sushi, and when you're out with your girlfriends you order a nice salad," she explained, "I heard about someone in L.A. who got hypnotized so they wouldn't eat candy. I'm seriously looking into that because I'm obsessed."

Elena Beloff, a New York City hypnotherapist, explained that "Sugar cravings can easily be overcome with hypnosis. In a deep state of relaxation one can be educated on all the dangers and disadvantages of sugar consumption. Your mind, when in the state of receptivity, has a great chance to accept whatever information you give it, as your critical facility is usually at rest. You just have to make sure that whatever information you give is positive and useful. Like for example 'you choose to stay away from sugar, so you can lose weight and be healthy and live a long life."

Breaking away from sugar is a common problem. Beloff provides audios specifically designed to help people curb their for sugar cravings.

Vergara has not yet gone to a hypnotist, but she changed her attitude about working out after hitting certain milestone birthday.

"I hit 40 and I started seeing a softness everywhere on my body ... I knew it was time to do something, so I did," Vergra told Shape. She said she constantly finds herself making excuses. "I'll say, 'Sunday? No, it's the Lord's day; I can't work out."

Because the actress can't jog because of "bad knees," Vergara says she uses a Pilates-like machine called the Megaformer.

"With this machine, I was able to figure out what worked for me," the 42-year-old said. "I don't love it at all, but I love "My body is looking better than it used to, but I wish I had worked out more when I was younger and taken it as seriously as I do now," Vergara told Shape. "My niece is 21 and she loves exercising, and I tell her, 'Keep doing it so you don't have to go crazy with it when you're my age!" how my body's changing."

But in the end, it really is about the sugar.

"My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!" Vergara concluded.
