YouTube Sensation PewDiePie Tired Of Talking About How Much Money He Makes; 2013 Earnings For Internet Celebrity Pegged At $4 Million

YouTube sensation “PewDiePie”, arguably the biggest celebrity in the video sharing network, is tired of talking about how much money he makes. Dubbed by Icon Magazine as the “most powerful Swede in the world,” the 24-year-old commands a channel with 31 million subscribers with a total combined views of more than 6.1 billion.

Born as Felix Kjellberg, the internet celebrity’s base of followers brings the question of how much money he makes. In 2013, Business Insider notes that the Wall Street Journal reported Kjellberg making over $4 million from ad revenue that year.

“PewDiePie” is aware of the awareness raise on his income, but tells Icon Magazine that he’s tired of discussing the issue of finances.

“I’m just extremely tired of talking about how much I make. In the very few interviews I’ve made, it doesn’t matter how long we’ve talked to each other, the headline is still just about my paycheck,” he says.

Kjellberg says, however, that his key to success was authenticity and a direct connection with his viewers. He is not intent of simply monetizing his audience.

"We’re gaming 'together' and many people see me as a friend they can chill with for 15 minutes a day. The loneliness in front of the computer screens brings us together," he tells Icon.

As the most successful YouTube personality to date, “PewDiePie” says that he’s not out to “max my income” noting that “I think my viewers would call me on that right away if I did.” He sees it more beneficial to make sure that his channel grows and to make a few deals.

He has used a lot of his influence to raise money for charities. Since he started his extremely popular channel, PewDiePie has raised a million dollars for charity and he’s “really proud of that.”
