Ebola Outbreak 2014: As Ebola Potentially Rivals AIDS as Pandemic, Two Groups Fight 'Human Error'

Ebola Outbreak 2014: The recent cases of Ebola in America happened becasue of human error. Ebola is spreading so fast it is on its way to becoming a global pandemic that could rival AIDS, according to Dr. Tom Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The head of the CDC said last month that the Ebola outbreak illed more than 3,860 people, including 200 health workers. As the Ebola situation continues to evolve in North America, the Practicing Perfection Institute is joining with Human Performance Association, which is an international not-for-profit, to prevent Ebola infection and contamination from spreading among medical professionals and the general public.

Tim Autrey, founder and CEO of Practicing Perfection Institute, Inc., and Executive Director of the Human Performance Association, said "I must confess,""I had not put 'human error' together with Ebola in the United States until I read the article by Steven Novella, 'Ebola and Human Error.'  Once I did so, I knew we had to do whatever we could to minimize the potential for human error in this situation (and do so immediately)."

Practicing Perfection Institute and the Human Performance Association teams are offering proactive solutions for free. They explained the solutions in the video, "Ebola and Human Error." Medical professionals can request their personal copies at the PPI website.

Autrey said "PPI is offering a Medical Error Elimination ToolsTM handbook free of charge to any medical professional who requests one. These handbooks contain a simple set of behavioral tools, which if used uncompromisingly, virtually eliminate the potential for mistakes.  Even within the incredibly dynamic, complex and high stress hospital environment, these simple tools (when used) greatly reduce the potential for the types of errors that lead to infections and contamination."

The Human Performance Association made free download availabel called "7 Simple Steps for helping to protect you and people you care about."

Ritu Budakoti, Managing Director of the HPA, said "We wanted to provide simple guidance, simple steps that anyone can take to help protect themselves from becoming infected.  We made the guidance specific for Ebola; however, the same guidance will help protect against any 'bug' that might be going around."
