Watch Kelly Clarkson ‘Shake It Off’ Cover: Songstress Gives Gospel Twist To Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Track, Tay Tay Reacts!

Kelly Clarkson's "Shake It Off" cover was a hit during a concert in Buffalo last weekend. Instead of starting with a pop tune, the "American Idol" winner covered the song with a gospel twist.

"This is a church song, this is a soulful song. This is one of my favorite songs out right now," said Clarkson. At first, she was obviously struggling to find the right key which prompted her to say, "C'mon, Jesus, help me."

The 32-year-old songstress then belted out a slow version of the Taylor Swift "1989" album track. After her performance, Clarkson joked: "I love that song. And I love the like, church version. It's probably blasphemy, but that's ok. I might be going to hell, but it ain't for that."

Kelly Clarkson's "Shake It Off" cover video went viral a day before the release of Taylor Swift's "1989" album.

Swift managed to watch Clarkson's performance and tweeted: "Watching Kelly Clarkson SLAY 'Shake It Off' is an excellent way to celebrate 26 HOURS TIL 1989!!!!!!"

After a few hours, the "A Moment Like This" songstress responded: "Love this song! Hope you like our gospel beginning ha! We had fun with it! Congrats on the new album coming out girl!"

Previously, Swift recalled how she needed to campaign for her new album. She admitted that her record label bosses did not initially want her to completely rule out country songs from her new album.
However, Swift assures fans that she did not leave her original genre.

"I decided to be honest about it, and upfront about the fact that this is me switching lanes. To say I 'left' country music sounds very harsh. It's just a change in artistic direction," she recently told The Tennesean.
