Aldo nailed it again!

"I deserved to win," Aldo said.

It's a unanimous decision in favor if the Brazilian Jose Aldo against the American Chad Mendes. The defending featherweight champ defended his title very well in UFC 179 at Maracanazinho arena last Sunday.

He explained: "He hit me a few times but I hit him a lot more. It was a great a fight and I'm sure everyone enjoyed it."

Aldo is the only champion the division has known. He prolonged his winning marathon to 15; a single short of Anderson Silva's sheet.

The most awaited mixed martial arts fight was said to be a rematch of their face off in Rio de Janeiro back in 2012. A powerful knee strike possessed by Aldo plummeted Mendes with a second left in the first round of said match. This time, Mendes extended the fight until the fifth round but still could not catch the victory. All of the judges scored it 49-46.

"He rang my bell for sure," Mendes said. "I was just going so hard I didn't know what was going on. I was just trying to push myself and obviously just out strike him and mix things up well."

Both of them grabbed minimal chances in the second round. Aldo made a brawny charge near the end of the round but could not stop his opponent.

Mendes tried to take the scheme of the fight more often in the final two rounds but did not have enough energy and time to turn things in his side. Aldo, on the other hand, finished with a heavily swollen left eye.

The unbeaten 28-year-old fighter, Aldo, checked the seventh straight victorious title defense. His triumphant experience started in 2005. He is facing a great pressure of being the only Brazilian title holder of the UFC weight division nowadays. Without him in the picture, it could have been a Brazil without a champion.
