Algieri will use his experience to win over PacMan

Chris Algieri takes the preparation for November 23rd's showdown against Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao very scientifically. Algieri, a degree holder in healthcare and nutrition, is applying his college education to get ready for the offensive punches of Pacquiao in Macau, telling ESPN.com team. He added that everything he does conforms to verified medical theories.

"I average between eight to nine hours of sleep a night/day between naps," Algieri said throughout a break in training camp in Las Vegas. He will be launching pad of his trip to Macau on Nov. 12 or 13.

He further explained: "I take a very scientific and calculated approach to everything I do when in training leading up to the fight and in the ring on fight night. Manny said that I will be the most conditioned and smartest fighter that he will ever face. He is right."

"I generally eat between five to seven times a day, around 3,500 calories," said Algieri, noting that his diet consists of "fresh fruits and colorful veggies" and "complex grains and no processed foods."

Being a chef also gives the 30 year-old boxer the ability to prepare and cook his own meals.

Aside from a strict diet, the 5 foot 10 inches tall athlete is also doing the usual strength and conditioning, cardio work, sprints and "massages for recovery once a week and take an ice bath."

Algieri received a crack at Pacquiao after scoring a stunning victory over Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia last June.

Having experience in kickboxing and full-contact karate before professional boxing, Algieri thinks his techniques in mixed-martial arts will help him score and perhaps win this thing.

But Pacquiao trainer, Freddie Roach, claims that Algieri will be in for an offensive awakening when he gets the taste of the furious fists of the Filipino star.
