Marysville Shooting Victim Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, Dies As A Result Of Severe Injuries Sustained At The Hands Of Fellow Classmate Jaylen Fryberg, 15, Who Later Turned The Gun On Himself

Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, one of the teenagers wounded in a Washington state high school shooting died Friday. The 14-year-old finally succumbed to her critical injuries on October 31.

So sad. Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, was confirmed dead from the disastrous gunshot wounds she sustained at the hands of her friend and fellow classmate, 15-year-old Jaylen Fryberg.

According to Daily Mail, As a result of "severe injuries," Shaylee died at the Providence Medical Center. Before turning the gun on himself, Jaylen, 15, opened fire in his school cafeteria on October 24 injuring Shaylee so severely that she was not immediately recognizable. Also Gia Soriano, 14, suffered severe head wounds.

14-year-old Zoe Galasson was also killed on-scene along with Jaylen's cousins Nate Hatch, 14, and Andrew Fryberg, 15. Shaylee's friend, Gia Soriano, 14, too died as a result of the shooting.

Social studies teacher at Marysville-Pilchuk, Megan Silberberger "did play a part in trying to stop the shooting," Randy Davis, the Marysville Education Association president told NBC News.

Megan Silberberger said, "I am thankful and grateful for the support from everyone. At this time I am requesting privacy," It was Megan's first year as a full time teacher.  "We're just trying to deal with it and cope with it."

Shaylee Chuckulnaskit Was Sociable, Kind And Helped Other Kids With Their Problems

One of Shaylee's classmate told Seattle Times that she was "sociable and kind" young girl who "helped other kids with their problems."

Following Shaylee's death, her family released a statement in which they said:

"Our hearts are broken at the passing of our beautiful daughter. Shay means everything to us. In Shay's short life she has been a radiant light bringing us incredible joy and happiness. She has been a loving daughter, a caring sister, a devoted friend and a wonderful part of our community. We can't imagine life without her. We have been overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and support of our family, friends and community. We are deeply grateful for all the acts of kindness that have come our way. We especially want to thank the medics and Providence staff who have cared for Shay. We request that everyone please provide us the privacy we need so we can grieve our loss. Thank you."

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shaylee's friends and family during this difficult time.
