Cosmos Season 2 Host Up In The Air After Neil deGrasse Tyson Takes Off; Fans Want Famous Scientist Like Bill Nye 'The Science Guy' To Explore the Cosmos 2; What About Stephen Hawking?

Cosmos Season 2 Host Casting: Bill Nye "the Science Guy" and Neil deGrasse Tyson, famous for both his wit and wisdom on so many appearances on Real Time With Bill Maher and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, are the most famous scientists since Carl Sagan, the original host of Cosmos.

There is speculation that the Cosmos Season 2 might see Bill Nye, The Science Guy replace Neil deGrasse Tyson as host of the interstellar educational show.

No one has mentioned Stephen Hawking as a possible host.

Space.com reported that Neil deGrasse Tyson won't be coming back for his host duties on Cosmos season 2. The famous physicist will continue to bring science to the masses, but a full-time job as TV host was digging into his time with his family.

In an interview with Time magazine, Neil deGrasse Tyson "We're all flattered that people are thinking [about a Season 2] but it's not clear that this was the kind of content you want to rattle off one year after the next. If some years down the line after my life has recovered, maybe. But I'd like science to be shared by all. If someone else came up and wanted to host it, I don't have any ego invested in the visibility that hosting Cosmos brought to me."

In a discussion at IMDb fans weighed the pros and cons of Bill Nye, The Science Guy against Michio Kaku and Richard Dawkins.
