This year was not for Rafael Nadal. The former world number 1 has been plagued with the wrist injury and just plain bad luck and has suffered a dramatic slip in world ranking 2014. Because of appendicitis, he had to drop out of APT World Tour and end the season in number 3 ranking. Maybe he is thinking about getting settled with his girlfriend Francisca Perello!

Rafael Nadal posted a picture of himself right before he got wheeled into the surgery room to get his appendicitis taken care of:

Though he is keeping a positive view on this whole matter, Rafa admitted that he will be missing the rest of this season. With his ATP ranking fallen to world number 3, the Spaniard probably will end the season not in the most favorable position for 2014 and 2015.

“I have maximum respect for [BNP Paribas Masters and Barclays ATP World Tour Finals],” Nadal said in an ATP World Tour article. “I love the city of Paris and the people who work there. London is a fantastic tournament with great fans, so it wasn’t an easy decision for me.

“If I don’t have a chance to win, I’m better to let my body try to recover... I accept [that] and I know [that] I have to be better for the beginning of 2015, and the only way to be better is to work on my health. Without health, you cannot work.”

Rafael Nadal had a hard season this year. He missed the US Open 2014 due to a plaguing wrist injury and with the appendicitis coming in at an opportune moment, he continues to slip in the APT ranking.

Maybe this is a moment for him to think about his future with his long-time girlfriend Francisca Perello. Rafa and Francisca Perello were last seen shopping for luxury yachts in south of France so maybe a mansion for their future family is not too far off in the future!
