What happened on the last episode of "The Simpsons?"

On "Opposites A-Frack," the episode which aired last Sunday featuring guest voice actress Jane Fonda, "Lisa hopes to counter Mr. Burns' fracking operation by bringing in Assemblywoman Maxine Lombard, but is aghast when the two political opponents take a liking to each other."

What should we look forward to for tonight's "Futurama" crossover episode (S26E06)? Warning: spoilers ahead!

According to TV Guide, "Futurama lives! For one night at least. The long-running sci-fi cartoon spoof, which signed off last year, is making a time-traveling comeback on The Simpsons (Sunday, Nov. 9 at 8/7c on Fox). Despite the fact the shows are set 1,000 years apart, the crossover makes sense, given that both series were created by Matt Groening and share a similar animation style. "At the table read, I said, "Let's celebrate this joyous reunion between Matt Groening's left and right brains,'" says Simpsons executive producer Al Jean. "And I really think that's what it is." A long-running ban on time-travel for the Futurama gang has been lifted, which allowed the Planet Express crew to visit 21st-century Springfield. Longtime Futurama showrunner David X. Cohen signed off on the plot, which, Jean jokes, "like all good science fiction, is stolen from Harlan Ellison." In the episode, titled "Simpsorama," - written by Simpsons producer J. Stewart Burns, who previously worked on Futurama - cranky robot Bender comes from the future to hunt down a member of the Simpson family who has unknowingly triggered a worldwide disaster a millennium later. Futurama has been resurrected before - it's already had runs on Fox, direct-to-video movies, and Comedy Central - but just in case this is really the end, Jean and his team wanted to reward the show's notoriously detail-oriented fans, who are known to obsessively decipher alien languages and spot hidden gems in the background. "We put in references to just about every Futurama side character, and it's filled with little Easter eggs. If you're a fan of the show, you should pay close attention," he says before laughing. "I guess it's a little redundant to say, 'Futurama fans, pay close attention.' That's sort of a prerequisite."

Care for some more spoilers?

"For Futurama fans, The Simpsons' sixth episode in Season 26, "Simpsorama," marks a highly anticipated return for Fry, Leela, Bender and the rest of the crew, whose own adventures came to an end (again) last year on Comedy Central. However, seeing as how this is a Simpsons episode and not a Futurama one, the crossover naturally begins in present-day Springfield. Unlike the hour-long Simpsons/Family Guy episode earlier this year, "Simpsorama" (which is only a half-hour) doesn't waste any time in getting to the crossover stuff. Without spoiling anything, the main storyline of "Simpsorama" is a bit dull, especially considering some of Futurama's more epic storylines. Really, the character dynamics are the big draw for this episode, particularly between Homer and Bender who, as you might expect, hit it off almost immediately when the Planet Express crew arrives in Springfield...Eventually, the Simpsons clan gets sucked into the future, but the time spent here is all too short. As a result, the 31st century scenes are distinctly lacking in Futurama characters, with only a scant few lines from Zoidberg, Hermes and Amy -- and no Zapp Brannigan whatsoever. (Heresy, I say!) With the Simpsons spending such a short amount of time in New New York, this episode probably would have benefitted from a longer running time. Overall, I'd say "Simpsorama" is a solid crossover, but again there just isn't enough time to really explore the different character interactions. Still, the episode features plenty of fun nods for Futurama fans, in addition to a solid conclusion. In the end, I think most viewers will be pleased with the Planet Express crew's postscript outing," explains IGN.
