Aaron Hernandez's murder case could very well swing to the direction of the athlete with the prosecution witness' failure to pass the polygraph. Meanwhile, the cousin of the former New England Patriot filed a motion to quash the charges.

The lawyer for Tanya Singleton filed a motion in the Fall River Superior Court claiming that the prosecutors "impaired the integrity" of the grand jury by withholding the evidence that would have undermined the credibility of witness Carlos Ortiz, said the ESPN report.

Carlos Ortiz was also named in the Aaron Hernandez murder case for the June 2013 slay of football player Odin Lloyd near the athlete's home in North Attleborough. They both entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.

"Ortiz's reliability as a witness has been questioned before. Prosecutors previously revealed he had changed his story about who got out of the car, at first saying Hernandez and Wallace both exited with Lloyd. Wallace has also pleaded not guilty to murder," the report said.

The Aaron Hernandez murder case trial is expected to start in January 2015. The athlete was also implicated in the murder of two men in Boston back in 2012.

"A spokesman for Bristol County District Attorney Samuel Sutter didn't immediately return a message seeking comment on the new filing," ESPN reported.

The Boston Herald reported that Carlos Ortiz was found to have lied during a polygraph test on June 25, 2013.

"Ortiz said he was about to get out of the car when he heard gunshots and Hernandez came running back, according to a transcript of the exam," the publication said.

That's when the examiner told him that he lied.

The examiner "labeled all the claims 'deception,'" the report added. "After the exam, Ortiz told investigators he was willing to help them however he could."

At this point, it's not clear if how the results of the polygraph test will impact on the Aaron Hernandez murder case.
