‘Avengers 3: Infinity War Part One’ Plot Rumors: Captain America Will Die And The Winter Soldier Will Take The Shield? Supreme Sacrifice By Steve Rogers To Save His Allies?

The fact that there is "Avengers: Infinity War" Part One and Two gives a hint that the first may not have a happy ending. It is already confirmed that Marvel's Phase Three will be a darker one that the previous two. Major characters will die but Captain America seems to be the frontrunner marked for death.

While Thor has Ragnarok being the avenue for his death, Captain America has two ways to die. What Culture points out that both major storylines hold a date with death for Steve Rogers.

"The Civil War storyline led directly into Captain America's death, with him handing himself in to authorities and eventually being shot by Crossbones (or so people thought). Crossbones has already been introduced in The Winter Soldier, so this storyline certainly looks like it is being developed. The Infinity Gauntlet storyline, which is inspiring the Avengers next two films after Age of Ultron, also saw Captain America die in an attempt to stop the Mad Titan Thanos from conquering earth."

Crossbones will definitely return in the third installment as confirmed by actor Frank Grillo-and he's not very happy (ending of The Winter Soldier). The Infinity Gauntlet (which would probably the basis for Infinity War) also has Cap proving he's the ultimate hero.

This leads to the conclusion:

With two comic book storylines being enacted in the films, both of which featured Captain America making a massive sacrifice, and the fact that Chris Evans is not keen on keeping the Captain America mask on for that much longer, it looks pretty clear that Captain America will be dying at some point in the foreseeable future.

"The Captain America title has most prominently been held by Steve Rogers, but a number of other people have operated under this guise. The most obvious of these is Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier. In Cap's second film we saw Bucky fight Cap using the hero's iconic shield, alluding to his future."

One clue for this: "Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky, has a rather long contract as well, having signed up to be in nine different Marvel films, much like Samuel L. Jackson did at the start of the first MCU. Having signed on for nine films, and with Chris Evans only having Civil War and The Avengers left on his, it looks like Bucky will be taking the shield sooner rather than later."

We told you that the actors' contracts are spoilers in themselves. This is one of the cases. All the scenarios here are still based on speculation and the comic book story arcs. We'll find out on May 4, 2018.
