As the days to the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2014) draw closer, the most coveted awards are almost too close to call. In the case of the Unionpay Artist of the Year award, fans votes have shifted the results from newer male groups to the established act, Super Junior. SM Entertainment’s Super Junior has surpassed EXO and Winner for the lead as Unionpay Artist of the Year with 21.9% of the popular vote. Super Junior has secured more than 8.4 million votes from fans, while EXO has more than 7.4 million votes or 20.3% for Artist of the Year.

YG Entertainment’s rookie group WINNER is in third place with 19.1% of the popular vote, placing the group in third.

Super Junior debuted in 2005 and recently had a strong comeback as a unified group with their release “MAMACITA.”

EXO debuted in April 2012 with their classical influenced track “Mama.” 2014 has presented several challenges for EXO with the departure of EXO-M members Kris and Luhan, but fans of the group have shown their full support through MAMA 2014 votes.

Voting for MAMA 2014 continues until midnight KST on December 2, on the official website for the awards.

The 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards will take place on December 3 in Hong Kong. The ceremony will be live streamed through Mnet America’s YouTube channel and on the mini site for the talk show “Danny from LA.”
