"Respond 1997" showed a very heartwarming scene of a high school reunion.

The series finale included a scene of the main characters meeting once more at a high school reunion that was being held in Seoul. The year was now 2012.

With all the characters together, it was clear that Yoon Yoon Jae (Seo In Guk) and Sung Si Won (Jung Eunji) were now married. At the reunion, Yoon Jae makes sure that Si Won, who is pregnant, cannot drink. Si Won tries to wiggle her way into drinking but Yoon Jae is adamant about the fact that she cannot drink. 

Then Yoon Jae and Si Won's daughter appears at the reunion, which makes it clear that they are expecting their second child. That day, Do Hak Chan and Mo Yoo Jung announce their impending marriage, which also draws the attention. 

However, the one part that had the viewers' hearts breaking was when Kang Jun Hee (Hoya) gives Yoon Jae a back hug and leaves the home that the two of them had shared together. Near the end of the reunion, Jun Hee reveals that there is someone waiting for him, which seemed to indicate that he had found love. 

After the reunion, Si Won and Yoon Jae still fight about Si Won's passion and love for H.O.T's Tony Ahn and the drama ends on the 90s fangirl theme, which it originally started with.
