Rosario Dawson Adopts 12-Year-Old Girl, ‘Top Five’ Actress Is Reportedly ‘Over The Moon' About New Daughter

Rosario Dawson is a mom!

The 35-year-old actress recently became a mother for the first time when she adopted a 12-year-old girl. The "Top Five" star, who as adopted herself, is reportedly ecstatic as she has "always wanted this."

According to E! News, a source revealed that Dawson is "over the moon" about welcoming her new daughter into her life. "She has always wanted this," said the source.

Dawson, who split from her director boyfriend Danny Boyle last year and is now single, previously spoke to Latina magazine in 2008 about wanting to adopt children.

"I always wanted to adopt kids 'cause my Dad adopted me," she told the magazine. "That idea has stayed in the back of my head, but lately, I've been thinking about it more. My mother and grandmother are extraordinary women, and they're getting older. It struck me recently that one day I might be sitting around with my children, going 'Your grandma was an amazing woman; I really wish you could've known her.' That makes me sad 'cause it would be a waste to not have these people know each other. Whatever time I have, I want it."

And so Dawson has now got her wish. The "Gimme Shelter" actress also told the mag that she doesn't feel that not knowing her father has left any "big void" in her life, although she is curious about him.

"I don't know my biological father. So growing up, that was something I thought about. I was very aware since I was really young. I know the myths and stories. I thought about maybe hiring somebody. And, hopefully it won't be a sad thing where I finally find him and find out he died the year before or something like that," she explained. "But who knows? It's not a big void in my life."

Dawson also described her close relationship with her adoptive father.

"My dad started dating my mom when she was eight months pregnant with me," she said. "He was beautiful. I wanted to be him. I love my father, he is amazing to me. I was daddy's little girl growing up."

Congratulations to Dawson and her family on their new edition!
