There's A Terrifying Game Theory About ‘Five Nights At Freddy's,' Is It An Allegory For The Chuck E. Cheese Murders?

With horror movies and horror video games now being released year-round, there's always something to give you a good scare.

But admittedly, this new ‘Five Nights At Freddy's' game theory makes the game ten times scarier. Which should be impossible given how the game is already horrifying.

Back in October, the popular Youtube Channel The Game Theorists released a video analyzing smash hit indie game "Five Nights at Freddy's." The theory they build about the horror PC game is that it is actually an allegory for the 1993 Chuck E. Cheese murders. The scariest part? The security guard role that players take on is the villain.

"Holy mother of god... I never once thought it was this deep. Jesus, I thought it couldn't get scarier D:" comments Bashurverse on the Youtube video in question.

The actual theory (which is available to view below) builds its case about "Five Nights At Freddy's" based on a number of different observations in the game. The main one is that the number of animatronics present in the game, and their locations, match up with details from the tragic murder of five Chuck E. Cheese employees.

The video goes further than just supposing that perhaps the animatronics are symbols, or ghosts, for the slain employees.

Instead, The Game Theorists propose that "Five Night's At Freddy's" is a living nightmare of Nathan Dunlap, the man arrested for the Chuck E. Cheese murders. The nightmare is that Dunlap is forced to work at the restaurant in which arguably the worst event of his life occurred and be continually haunted by the employees he once worked with.

Thankfully, it is just a theory, but the evidence built by The Game Theorists is definitely compelling.

According to their about section, The Game Theorists, "separate the fact from the fiction in some of your favorite video games. From arrows in knees to zombies in space, from headshots to Halo, we've got you covered. Learn random info while we look in-depth at the designer's decisions for old, new, and forgotten gaming gems."
