J.K. Rowling Announces 12 New ‘Harry Potter” Stories To Be Released During The Holiday Season

Fans of "Harry Potter" are in for an extra special treat this holiday season.

J.K. Rowling just announced that she will release twelve new "Harry Potter" short stories. And for a festive treat, the British author will publish one story a day starting on Dec. 12 for the twelve days of Christmas.

In a letter sent to the members of the "Harry Potter" fan-site Pottermore, Rowling announced the exciting project. The first installment will arrive on Dec. 12 and a story will be released every day in the twelve days leading up to Christmas.

"We're feeling extra generous this year, so we're bringing you early gifts this Christmas. Starting Friday, December 12, we'll be releasing a festive surprise for you every day at 1pm GMT (8am EST)," said the message.

"With wonderful writing by J.K. Rowling in Moments from Half-Blood Prince, shiny gold Galleons and even a new potion or two, make sure you don't miss out - just visit pottermore.com and answer our rhyming riddles to unwrap a #PottermoreChristmas surprise every day," continued the letter.

According to Entertainment Weekly, one of those stories will be based on Harry Potter's Hogwarts rival, Draco Malfoy.

This is not the first time this year that Rowling released a story for fans of Pottermore.

On Halloween, the author published 5,000 words about Dolores Umbridge, a secondary character in the "Potter" series.

Of course, Rowling is also hard at work on another "Harry Potter"-related project, a screenplay for the first film in a new franchise called "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

The series, which will reportedly include at least three film installments and is based on a textbook that the young title wizard studies in the "Harry Potter" books.
