President Obama Seizes Anchor Chair On 'The Colbert Report:' Playfully Mocks Himself; Jokes About Obamacare And Discusses The Keystone XL Pipeline [PHOTO]

This past Monday night, President Obama took over the anchor chair from Stephen Colbert on

"The Colbert Report," making both his first in-person appearance on the show as president and his last. According to USA Today, the show wraps up its nine-year run on Comedy Central at the end of the month as Colbert prepares to take over the CBS "Late Show" next year.

However, that didn't stop Obama from having a bit of fun. While promoting the new and improved website from Obamacare, he quipped, "Nation, as you know I, Stephen Colbert, have never cared for our president...The guy is so arrogant, I bet he talks about himself in the third person. But even I have to admit that Obamacare is the law of the land and, while it's been politically divisive, there are things people from both parties like about Obamacare... Nearly 7 million signed up last year, and almost 1 million more have signed up in just the past few weeks."

He continued, "Now the new website works, and most young people can get covered for less than a hundred bucks, how's the president going to get that message out to the kids? He could try to appeal to them directly through a speech or a press conference, but young people don't watch real news shows like this one...They watch comedy shows, and I just don't see the president going on one of those. They're beneath his dignity."

Not everything was fun and games, however. Colbert asked Obama about the Keystone XL pipeline, saying, "Let's talk about the Keystone XL pipeline. ... The American people want it. It's going to create jobs. The State Department says it's not going to raise the pollution in the atmosphere. You're going to sign that, right?"

Obama replied, "We've got to make sure that it's not adding to the problem of carbon and climate change. We have to examine that, and we have to weigh that against the amount of jobs that it's actually going to create, which aren't a lot... Essentially, this is Canadian oil passing through the United States to be sold on the world market. It's not going to push down gas prices here in the United States. It's good for Canada."
