Paige VanZant UFC: Fighter Not Keen On Being Called Next Ronda Rousey?

There is a new beauty in mixed martial arts UFC - Paige VanZant - and the fighter does not want to be referred to as "The Next Ronda Rousey."

New UFC fighter Paige VanZant, 20 years old, became the youngest fighter to win a match in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC Fight Night 157 after defeating Kailin Curran via a technical knockout in the third round on November 22. The match was her fourth professional win, triggering comparisons between her and undefeated bantamweight champion in the UFC women's division Ronda Rousey.

Paige VanZant spoke about UFC and Ronda in a report by Yahoo! Sports where she said: "I have so much respect for Ronda and how talented she is and how great of a fighter she is and what she has done for every woman who wants to be a fighter. But I don't want to be the next anybody. I want to be the first Paige VanZant."

VanZant's family was originally from Dayton, Oregon but transferred to Sparks, Nevada. She attended Reed High School in Sparks where she used to be a dancer and cheerleader.

The UFC fighter shared in the same Yahoo! Sports report, "I moved to Reno when my dad lost his job. I guess it was fortunate for me because it helped me to discover MMA. I went to a rather, well, I don't want to say ghetto, but it was a kind of school I wasn't used to. I grew up in a very, very small town and [Reed High School] was 4,000 kids and it was a scary place."

While in Reno, she learned MMA and spent a lot of time in "The Lion's Den" gym, owned by Ken Shamrock, based on a report by International Business Times. Her father was also a former wrestler, so she learned a lot from her male mentors.

UFC president Dana White and Shannon Knapp of Invicta, were impressed with Paige VanZant's skills and talent.

White said, "She's a really talented, tough girl. She's a legitimate athlete. There are people who are searching for her because of her looks, but if you can't fight, people don't care."

Ronda Rousey has yet to comment on her potential UFC successor, Paige VanZant.
