K-Pop singer Psy, who is sweeping the globe with "Gangnam Style" will face the moment of truth regarding his status as an international star.

Psy's current progress report shows that "Gangnam Style" reached the no.1 spot on the UK Single Chart in addition to entering the main Hot 100 Chart on Billboard. If Psy is announced as the holder of the no.1 spot on the Billboard's Hot 100 Chart, he will be the first Asian singer to conquer the music market of both Britain and the United States simultaneously. So far, "Gangnam Style" ranked no.1 on the iTunes music chart of 30 different nations.

According to a representative from an official chart company in England, Psy's "Gangnam Style" reached no.1 on September 30. The representative added that Psy's albums sales went up by 73% and is currently way ahead, in sales, compared to "Hall of Fame" by The Script, who is in second place. The representative continued, "Psy presented England with the very first number 1 K-Pop song. Psy expressed his gratitude for his fans in England who showed support and also mentioned that he will soon visit." Along with the Billboard Chart in the United States, the UK Chart is one of the most accurate music charts that represent the interest of the listeners.

On September 27, "Gangnam Style" reached no.2 on the Billboard's Single Chart Hot 100. The updated chart that is scheduled for release tomorrow (October 4) will reveal whether Psy is no.1 or not.

There was not a single artist who was ranked no.1 on the Billboard's Hot 100 since 1963 when a Japanese singer Kyu Sakamoto's "Sukiyaki". At the time, "Sukiyaki" was ranked no.6 on the UK Chart.

Even with all the incredible success however, the possibility of "Gangnam Style" reaching no.1 is not as high as we expect it to be. In response to Psy's comment about his willingness to perform shirtless if he places no.1, Billboard.com criticized his comment by stating, "..think you'd be better off keeping your shirt on this week."

Psy recently held an exclusive concert called "CY X Let's Play with Psy" at the Seoul Jamsil Olympic Gymnasium where he stated, "I may or may not take my shirt off based on the result of the Billboard Chart, I will perform at the Town Hall Square regardless of the results."

Meanwhile, Psy's agency YG Entertainment stock price is skyrocketing. It has been reported that the value of Yang Hyun Suk's (CEO of YG) has gone from approximately $130 million USD to $430 million USD. Yang Hyun Suk has gone from rank 130 to 49 in the ranking for the Most Wealthy in Stocks ranking.
