Prince William News: The Duke Of Cambridge Gives Phone Number And Offers Help To A Young Performer, Steven Prescod During His Visit To 'The Door' As The Brooklyn Man Raps About His Struggles!

Prince William was so impressed by one Brooklyn man's spoken-word performance on Tuesday that The Duke of Cambridge not only gave the 22-year-old his phone number but also offered to help him turn his act into a full-screen show.

Steven Prescod of Bedford-Stuyvesant was the featured act Tuesday when Prince William and Kate Middleton paid a visit to The Door, a non-profit that helps kids and young adults to better their lives. Apparently Williams was so moved with Prescod's act that he applauded him and gave him his number.

Prescod stated, 'William said he wanted to help me put this together."

"I was incarcerated and this is my life," said Prescod, 22, of Brooklyn. "I had a low period in my life and never in a million years did I expect I would be performing for the duke and duchess."

Prescod emotionally recounted his difficult upbringing recalling being born to a 15-year-old mother and how his father went to jail a year later after his birth. The young man also rapped about how he was arrested at 16 for robbery and how he served time at New York's Rikers Island. When he was released, Prescod found a theater program that helped him change his life around.

Ely Olivero, 22, a former student at The Door, confirmed Prescod's account.

He said William told them that "being among us was the best moment they had experienced" during their three-day trip to New York City.

"That was incredible guys," William said, according to Olivero. "It was amazing and should be on in the West End. When's your next performance?"

Prescod said, he believes he knows why his story resonated with the prince.

"Everything is true," he said. "I never really practiced writing, but it was so easy because these stories are all real."

Prince William said he found Prescod's story "inspirational" and he also spoke about the possibility of bringing the one-man show to London. On Thursday, Prescod appeared on the "Today's Show" and spoke about meeting the royal couple. "I was just so surprised, because his reaction, it was so breathtaking," said Prescod. "He said he would love to give me his contact information. I was like, 'Really? You want to give me your contact information?' And he said yes."

The 22-year-old hopes to have a full script ready to perform in January. He said, "I would love to get this show up and continue pursuing my acting, and I want to send this message around the world, because I feel that kids really need to see this."
