‘The Vampire Diaries’ Star Ian Somerhalder To Direct One Episode Of The Series; Paul Wesley’s Pal Hopes Not To ‘Screw It Up’

Paul Wesley isn't the only one who can pull of a director's hat for it has been confirmed that his fellow "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder would step behind the camera for an episode in the sixth season.

"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder made the special announcement on his Instagram page: "Thank you to all involved in the decision-making process for giving me the opportunity to do this," he wrote. "I am so grateful. I'll do my very verry [sic] very best not to screw it up."

Nikki Reed's boyfriend will be assigned to work on "The Vampire Diaries" season 6, episode 16. The episode will be entitled "The Downward Spiral."Even if he'll be directing, it appears that Somerhalder's character, Damon, will still be included in the episode.

Back when "The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley directed the "Resident Evil" episode, his character Stefan still got included in the plot. After the holiday break, "The Vampire Diaries" will be returning for its eleventh episode.

Executive producer Caroline Dries tells E! Online that Kai is still out for Damon which partly prompted him to kidnap Elena. Dries hints that sucking up all of the magic from Mystic Falls has "repercussions" even for Kai. "He needs Elena's help with that," Dries claims.

Things are also not yet over for Damon and Elena. Thanks to her being kidnapped, the two of them will finally have a confrontation.

According to Dries, fans should watch out as to how Damon and Elena's relationship will evolve: "We're going to make up for that kiss under the mistletoe you almost got to, but didn't get to, see in the midseason finale."
